The modern Qlik NPrinting alternative
NPrinting covers a defined scope. This page marks the edge of it.
Qlik® NPrinting was built for an on-premises world. If you are moving to Qlik Cloud, adding Power BI or Snowflake, or need a different report for every recipient, this page shows where the two products differ.
Mail & Deploy runs alongside your Qlik environment as a reporting platform: several apps and sources in one report, more output formats, per-recipient filtering, extension rendering and delivery to the channels your teams use.
The sections below set out the five points that decide most migrations, the full comparison, what customers who switched report – and where NPrinting remains the better answer.
Why companies replace NPrinting
Qlik NPrinting was built for an on-premises world.
No hybrid and no Qlik Cloud support
NPrinting does not connect to Qlik Sense SaaS. Organisations moving to the cloud either find an alternative or keep on-premise infrastructure running alongside it.
Setup and ongoing maintenance
Deploying NPrinting requires dedicated Windows servers, IIS configuration and regular patching. Every upgrade carries risk and takes IT time away from analytics.
Fixed templates, no personalisation
Reports stay inside fixed templates that cannot be adapted per recipient. Business users cannot adjust filters, pick their own data segment or choose the level of detail; each variation becomes another template for the BI team.
Extension rendering gaps
Third-party extensions such as Vizlib, AnyChart and trueChart are not reliably rendered. That limits report fidelity and forces workarounds.
Limited output flexibility
Export formats and delivery channels are fixed. There is no native support for destinations such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint or cloud storage.
Tied to a single data source
NPrinting works inside the Qlik ecosystem only. Teams that also use Power BI, Snowflake, Databricks or SQL databases need a second reporting tool or manual workarounds.
Five points that decide it
Five decisions, each with Mail & Deploy and Qlik NPrinting compared directly. Each point appears here and nowhere else on this page.
Connectivity
Qlik Cloud, or not
Mail & Deploy
Native connection to Qlik Cloud (SaaS), QlikView Local/Server documents and Qlik Sense Business/Desktop/Server apps - one tool for hybrid and cloud-only environments.
Qlik NPrinting
No connection to Qlik Cloud or Qlik Sense Desktop. Supports Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows and QlikView only. Qlik's stated path for cloud customers is to export templates and rebuild reports in Qlik Cloud Reporting, not to connect NPrinting.
What this means in practice: a Qlik Cloud migration does not force a reporting migration.
Readiness
One server, or two
Mail & Deploy
Installation can be done on the same server as Qlik Sense or QlikView in less than 15 minutes.
Qlik NPrinting
Windows-only and on-premise, inside a single Active Directory domain, C: drive installation only, 512 MB report size limit.
What this means in practice: no second server to license, patch and monitor.
Integration
Sources beyond Qlik
Mail & Deploy
Direct access to Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database. Connect to third-party solutions via extensive API.
Qlik NPrinting
No access to SQL Server or Oracle Database provided. External data connection exclusively via Qlik.
What this means in practice: one report can combine Qlik data with data that never entered Qlik.
Sharing
Where reports can go
Mail & Deploy
Email, file server, FTP, Microsoft SharePoint and Teams, OneDrive, Dropbox, AWS S3, Google Drive, or the Mail & Deploy Hub.
Qlik NPrinting
Fewer choices: local folders, sending by email, publishing in the Newsstand.
What this means in practice: reports arrive where people already work, without an export step.
Support
Where the development effort goes
Mail & Deploy
Regular feature releases driven by customer requests. Actively developed for both client-managed and Qlik Cloud.
Qlik NPrinting
Development now focused on migration away from NPrinting. The May 2026 release mainly adds template export to Qlik Cloud Reporting plus minor fixes. The February 2025 release is supported until February 2027; no cloud version is planned.
What this means in practice: requirements that arrive next year still have a path.
Everything else, side by side
The remaining differences Qlik teams ask about when they replace NPrinting.
| Feature | Mail & Deploy | Qlik NPrinting |
|---|---|---|
| Performance | High-performance reporting engine with parallel executions, streamlined for optimal memory consumption. | Performance increase associated with a costly increase of NPrinting engines assigned to the NPrinting server. |
| Usability | Full, easy-to-use reporting - from simple one-time to complex, long-tail, variable reports in different formats with direct filter options. | Configuring and using NPrinting is hard. It is not us who say it, it is our customers who have used NPrinting. |
| Extension compatibility | Renders Vizlib, AnyChart, Inphinity, ks quadrat and trueChart into every output format. | Limited native export of Qlik Sense extension objects, mainly supported as an image. |
| Self-service | Authorised users inside and outside the organisation can view, download and subscribe to reports via the Mail & Deploy Hub. | Only authorised users inside an organisation can request reports via the Newsstand. |
| Additional features | Monitoring capabilities (execution calendar, log files, monitoring app), native pivot table support, modular template-based reports, report bursting and more. | PixelPerfect and on-demand reports available, but no monitoring app, no native pivot table support, no modular templates. |
| Pricing | More reasonable and flexible pricing model. No limitation on the number of report designers. | Different and less flexible pricing than Mail & Deploy. |

Why teams switched
Named by organisations that replaced NPrinting.
We started to partner and work with Mail & Deploy for some specific features that Qlik NPrinting was missing. Currently, we feel the true value of our partnership through tremendous support, co-development of new features and an application that just works as it should.
Mail & Deploy extends Qlik Cloud's capabilities, enabling the creation of high-quality reports and offering the customization level our global travel organization required.
With Mail & Deploy each report can be created in a short or long version. Our users get the exact level of detail they need - something NPrinting couldn't deliver.
When the other one is the better answer
If you run Qlik Sense on-premise, have no plans to move to Qlik Cloud, and your reports go to fixed groups without per-recipient variation, NPrinting does that - and it is already paid for. The question is what happens the day one of those three changes.
Step by step: migrating from Qlik NPrinting to Mail & Deploy
One hour, together, on your data.
On the same server as your Qlik environment, we connect one data source and build a first report with you - without elaborate formatting. In the two complimentary onboarding hours, we get together as far as your report allows.
- Installs on the same server as Qlik
- Runs beside your existing NPrinting
- Ends with a working task you can keep
- Guided onboarding included
