Tasks can be started over the API with access key authentication. This lets an ETL job or a scheduler trigger reporting as its final step.

User-based security
Control who can access, generate and view reports through Mail & Deploy's own user permissions. Standard users receive explicit datasource, report, task and workspace authorizations, while administrator and API users have full access by design. Mail & Deploy also respects Qlik's section access.
