Qlik has announced the removal of the deprecated Developer role and Enable API keys toggle in Qlik Cloud, expected to take effect by the end of 2025.
Since Mail & Deploy for Qlik Cloud relies on API keys for secure data access and report generation, this change may affect your Mail & Deploy connection if the necessary permissions are not updated in time.
What’s changing
The following items, deprecated in June 2025, will soon be removed:
- Developer role
- Enable API keys toggle

Once removed, users without updated permissions will:
- Be unable to access the API key interface in Profile > Settings
- Have their existing API keys disabled – causing 3rd-party integrations like Mail & Deploy to fail
What you need to do
To ensure uninterrupted Mail & Deploy functionality, your Qlik Cloud Tenant Administrator must:
- Create a custom role with the permission “Manage API Keys” = Allowed

2. Assign this role to all users who previously had the Developer role

3. Remove the deprecated role once migration is complete
Detailed guidance is available in Qlik’s article: Developer role and API key toggle deprecated | 6/16/2025
Important
If these steps are not taken, Mail & Deploy will be unable to connect to your Qlik Cloud tenant once the removal is enforced. API keys will be re-enabled automatically after the correct permissions are applied.
