Before and after
Before
- A traditional reporting tool mainly provided list-based evaluations.
- As data volumes grew, the tool became a bottleneck, with slow performance and limited analytical flexibility.
- Data was spread across an AS/400 system, several SQL databases, SharePoint, files and REST APIs, and the company wanted to evaluate it across systems.
After
- Users access analyses in the browser without any local installation.
- Mail & Deploy generates reports automatically and sends them by email to defined recipient groups.
- When source systems change, dashboards stay the same and only the connected data sources are replaced.
How it is set up

- Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows, connected to AS/400, SQL databases, SharePoint, files and REST APIs

Qlik has opened up new perspectives for us in the field of analytics. The combination of performance, intuitive operation, and browser-based access fits perfectly with our digitalization strategy of making processes simple, centralized, and, above all, transparent.
The problem
Fiegl + Spielberger, a family-owned electrical engineering company founded in 1927 with around 600 employees at ten locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, had been working with a traditional, list-based reporting tool. As the volume of operational data grew, it became a bottleneck, with slow performance and limited analytical flexibility. The data landscape included an AS/400 system, several SQL databases, SharePoint and files, and the company planned to add more systems in the medium term. To make better use of its data and evaluate it across systems, it decided to introduce a modern, flexible BI platform.
Why Mail & Deploy
- As an add-on for Qlik, it generates reports automatically.
- It distributes reports by email to defined recipient groups.
- It is part of the Qlik setup implemented together with Qlik channel partner ppmc group.
What changed
- Transparency and performance have improved significantly.
- New analysis options are available, for example for A-items and supplier comparisons.
- Report distribution runs automatically instead of manually.
- The BI landscape is future-proof and can be expanded, with flexible user-based or capacity-based licensing.
