Berlin Recycling is one of Germany’s leading recycling and waste management companies, with around 500 employees. As a private subsidiary of BSR (Berliner Stadtreinigung), Berlin Recycling has always prioritized operational excellence and digital transformation. With daily operations spanning 180 vehicles on Berlin streets, the company faced increasing challenges in keeping customers informed with accurate and timely data.

As the complexity of customer operations grew, traditional manual reporting processes became unsustainable. Customer service representatives were spending hours preparing reports, handling ad-hoc requests, and ensuring that every Excel report met the specific requirements of different clients. Berlin Recycling needed a solution that would not only streamline reporting but also deliver a user-friendly, automated experience for internal teams and customers alike.

The Challenge

Before automation, Berlin Recycling’s reporting process had several pain points:

  • Complex customer hierarchies – Many property management customers included multiple sub-customers, requiring consolidated and accurate reporting.
  • Diverse reporting needs – Each customer had unique requirements for report layouts, data filters, and delivery methods. Some reports needed to integrate with external APIs or ERP systems.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Berlin Recycling implemented a three-layer solution combining Qlik Sense, Data+, and Mail & Deploy, creating a fully automated, scalable reporting platform:

  1. Qlik Sense – Serves as the analytics backbone, aggregating operational data, calculating KPIs, and generating consistent, reliable insights.
  2. Data+ – Provides an intuitive interface for internal teams to manage report schedules, templates, and customer-specific filters without requiring technical expertise.
  3. Mail & Deploy – Transforms Qlik data into standardized, branded reports and automates delivery to customers according to defined schedules.

The integration of these tools allows Berlin Recycling to move from a manual, error-prone process to a fully automated reporting ecosystem, where data flows seamlessly from raw input to final customer-ready reports.

Implementation and Workflow

Berlin Recycling’s journey began with QlikView in 2007, evolving to Qlik Sense in 2019. Mail & Deploy was integrated during Berlin Recycling’s transition to Qlik Cloud in 2024. Data+ was later added to streamline report management and enhance user self-service capabilities.

The solution works as follows:

  • Customer Request Handling – Employees can quickly search for a customer, generate a report, preview it, and select a template, all with a few clicks.
  • Template Management – Multiple report templates accommodate different customer requirements, including waste balances, billing summaries, and operational KPIs.
  • Automated Scheduling – Reports can be scheduled monthly, quarterly, or yearly, and automatically distributed via email or other endpoints.
  • Data Accuracy Checks – Previews and filter checks ensure reports are accurate before sending, reducing errors and manual follow-ups.
  • Archiving – Every report is automatically archived in Berlin Recycling’s document management system (DMS), ensuring compliance and traceability.

Results and Impact

The results of this implementation have been transformative:

  • 50 automated reports now cover multiple departments, including customer service, sales, and finance.

Using Mail & Deploy to automate complex reporting and improve efficiency

THE CHALLENGE

TT Club is a global, market-leading independent provider of mutual insurance and related risk management services to the international transport and logistics industry. Established in 1968, it now insures 80% of the world’s maritime containers and has over 20 offices worldwide.

Data underpins every aspect of TT Club’s service, from specialist underwriting and claims management to risk and loss management advice. Access to real-time data and timely and accurate reports are essential for it to serve its members and meet complex regulatory requirements. It reports on claims, underwriting, credit control, finance, and much more to internal and external stakeholders.

TT Club in the UK had been using Qlik for data and analytics for over a decade, along with Qlik® NPrinting for reporting. In 2023 it began migrating to Qlik Cloud, which meant Qlik® NPrinting would no longer be compatible.

The business also wanted to stop spending significant sums on Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to send more advanced reports to external stakeholders. With just two months to find an alternative solution, the team approached Climber for support.

THE APPROACH

The Climber team recommended Mail & Deploy for its enhanced features, scalability, and improved user experience. It can connect to multiple deployments of Qlik (on-prem and Cloud) and to direct sources such as SQL Server, without needing to load data into Qlik.

As a global, financial services company, TT Club’s centralised IT team had to approve the move to Mail & Deploy. They wanted to understand the technical aspects of the solution to ensure it would adhere to stringent compliance requirements. As the local TT team didn’t have the solution knowledge required, Climber were on hand to answer all their questions.

To speed up the deployment, we also arranged for Mail & Deploy to create a proof of concept (POC). This showed that the company could make significant savings by incorporating automation within the solution.

While the solution was being developed, we also arranged training for the team directly with Mail& Deploy. They used a POC report, based on similar data, to explore in the training sessions. This helped to get the team up-to-speed quickly so they could start issuing reports as soon as the solution was deployed.

World2Meet Achieves Perfect Reporting with Qlik Cloud and Mail & Deploy

In today’s business landscape, producing high-quality reports is essential. When migrating from Qlik Sense to Qlik Cloud, World2Meet (the travel division of the Iberostar Group) faced a challenge. Overcoming this obstacle was crucial for advancing towards more efficient data management.

To address this challenge, MIND evaluated several market alternatives. Ultimately, Mail & Deploy proved to be the best fit for World2Meet’s needs. This reporting software extends Qlik Cloud’s capabilities, not only enabling the creation of high-quality reports but also offering the level of customization World2Meet required.

The Results

With the implementation of Mail & Deploy, World2Meet successfully achieved its reporting goals. In addition, they standardized report creation across all divisions, ensuring that each business line can now generate reports with a look and feel consistent with its brand identity.
