- Reporting users
- about 100
Before and after
Before
- Data was exported from source systems such as the personnel system and prepared in Excel.
- Preparing figures for meetings took half a day.
- Every January and February, countless requests for statistics for the previous year's review landed with the Head of Finance and Controlling.
After
- The monthly report is available for retrieval on the 20th, and all users are notified by email.
- Preparing figures for meetings takes 15 minutes and a few clicks.
- Reports needed at least once a year are mapped in Qlik, so colleagues retrieve them on their own and the year-end requests have gone to zero.
How it is set up
- Data sources
- Qlik Sense, connected to ten source systems: SAP IS-H, SAP FI, SAP CO, LKF Score Allocator, Medfolio, Metavision, PDMS, Ally Personal, SPX and an Access database with training data
- Recipients
- All users of the reporting system (about 100)
- Delivery
- Schedule
- Monthly (report available on the 20th)
Instead of spending half a day laboriously transferring the figures from the individual programs to Excel and preparing them there, 15 minutes and a few clicks are now all it takes.
The problem
Dornbirn Municipal Hospital has 278 acute care beds and around 900 employees, and cares for around 40,000 outpatients and 15,000 inpatients every year. To combine patient care with economic efficiency, management needs the greatest possible transparency on key figures. The challenge was a compact key figure system that would provide figures for all hospital areas automatically and regularly, drawing on a heterogeneous IT landscape. Internal resources were not sufficient to implement additional applications quickly, and the hospital needed a backup to keep the solution running during absences.
Why Mail & Deploy
- It notifies all users by email as soon as the monthly report is ready.
- It supports the self-service approach: users are informed and then retrieve the figures themselves.
What changed
- About 100 users work with the Qlik-based reporting system.
- Preparing figures for meetings went from half a day to 15 minutes.
- Year-end statistics requests to the Head of Finance and Controlling have gone to zero.
- Primary physicians see at a glance whether everything is "in the green" or where action is needed.
